Christmas comes but one a Year, and when it does, it brings good cheer

And there was plenty to be cheerful about on Thursday night, at the inaugural TIMELESS Christmas Meal, at La Fosse restaurant in Cardiff. Eighteen members of the group were present, making it the largest TIMELESS event ever. The meal had been the hottest topic of conversation on the TIMELESS mailing list for weeks. Congratulations to Gill and Ian Golden for suggesting the meal in the first place, and then doing all the donkey work organising it.

La Fosse has wonderful food. I started with the deep fried goat’s cheese with onion marmalade, followed by half a pheasant in a game sauce with leeks and chips for my main course and a very nice Christmas Pudding for desert. To drink I shared a very nice bottle of red wine with Andy Hill. Then the meal was topped of with strong black coffee.

Although the quality of the food was not the reason for booking this particular restaurant. It was chosen because a scene from Rose, the first episode of the new series of Doctor Who was filmed there. Having said that , it was a very good choice, as everyone enjoyed their meal. (more…)

Somewhere on the middle section of my mother’s Christmas tree, there is a break in the wire. This means that none of the wired in fairy lights on that particular section work. I have checked all the bulbs on that section, so it is not a blown bulb. It looks as if my mother is going to have to buy a set of lights, and drape those around the tree, as finding the short circuit will be near to impossible.

So after three weeks I still have the goatee beard. I think it is now more or less a permanent fixture. So here is a photograph of myself with the beard for you all to have a good laugh at.
