Today is SATURDAY!

Yesterday was weird. It was Good Friday, but it felt more like a Saturday. I keep thinking today is Sunday, but it can’t be, It’s only Saturday. Well not just any Saturday either, today is the Saturday that Doctor Who returns to BBC1. How could I forget that.

The BBCi Trailer

The build up to Saturday’s launch of Series Two (28) of Doctor Who is reaching a deafening crescendo. On Thursday’s Celebrity Ready, Steady, Cook!, new Doctor David Tennant competed against his father, Rev. Sandy MacDonald. This afternoon (Thursday) saw the launch of Totally Doctor Who, a children’s magazine programme devoted to Doctor Who.

Although, the crowning glory has to be the five minute preview that is being shown as a continuous loop on BBCi. It features clips taken from episodes in the first three recording blocks of Series Two (28), in other words episodes 2,3,4,5,6,12 and 13 (I don’t know why they are not showing anything from Saturday’s episode.). I love the scene taken from episode #3 School Reunion, which features Rose, the current companion and Sarah Jane from the earlier series trying to out do each other with the things that each has seen on their travels with the Doctor. I am now really excited about the new series.

Trying to get Fitter

I dragged myself out of bed at 8.30am this morning, which meant that I didn’t have time to do my exercises this morning. Not to worry I said, I would fit them in during my lunch hour. Ha, fat chance. So as soon as I get home it will be fitness time. Warm up first with the spring-loaded wheel doing some sit ups and push ups. Today it is up into my attic, where the Ab-doer exercise machine lives, before five minutes on the cross trainer jogging machine. Tomorrow will just be the cross trainer for ten minutes; Friday will be a repeat of today, although as I don’t start work until 12.30pm, I should manage to get the exercises in during the morning, as planned. As I only started this fitness regime in February, I am taking things lightly, as I really don’t want to go at it like a bull at a gate and end up pulling muscles and bruising ligaments. I do intend upping the amount of exercise I do as time goes on, I would like a new exercise bike at some point, so that I could have a nice cycle and a shower before I go to bed at night. And of course, if the weather holds up, I intend going for longer walks.

And of course, I really do need to get a new weighing scales.  I have no idea what my weight currently is. I am mostly sticking to my healthy eating regime, soups and salads with grilled meat instead of fried.  However, without a weighing scale, I have no idea how successful I am at shedding all the excess pounds.

Spring Forward

After the Arctic blast of winter, things have changed.  The Sun is out, the sky is blue, and whilst the wind is still on the nippy side, since 1st April, it has definitely been like spring outside.  Even the BBC Weather site with its data from the Met Office is predicting another five days of dry sunny weather.  It cannot possibly last though.  I am afraid that mentioning the good weather might frighten it away.  Although I do hope that we will get a repeat of that magnificent summer thirty years ago, when Britain roasted under the summer sun for weeks on end.

Already the Water Companies are introducing Hose Pipe Bans to conserve supplies, whilst complaining about below average rainfall leading to depleted reserves.  What I want to know, is how a country located on an island, surrounded by water, where it rains three and a half days out of every five can possibly be running out of water.  Of course in the eyes of the privatised Water Companies, the crumbling infrastructure of the Water Industry has nothing to do with it, they are more interested in paying their shareholders dividends than repairing leaking water mains.  It is all the fault of the customers, who want water on demand, and are therefore forced to pay through the nose for a natural commodity that should be free to all.
